Recently Broadcom have moved all VMware customers over to their support portal.
Broadcom have a “Site ID” for each customer, so they created one for everyone migrated from VMware. The missing bit was how you get that Site ID, you need this so you can request access to your support and product entitlements.
Step 1 – Request Site ID
https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleId=197283 Request the Site ID with the form, give us much information as possible, i.e. company name (as it appears on the contract), any contract numbers etc. you can.
When you click submit, it looks like it’s done nothing, but a small box pops up in the left corner, make sure you grab this case number.
Step 2 – Create Broadcom Account
- Go to https://support.broadcom.com
- Click Register to register for an account, use the email address you registered your contracts with to speed it all up.
- Once you have registered and can login. (they use their OKTA)
Step 3 – Get the Site ID
I phoned them up a couple of days after requesting, as I heard nothing back. https://support.broadcom.com/web/ecx/contact-support#globalNumbers
They checked the request and provided the Site ID via email.
Step 4 – Request Access with your Site ID
I did this on the phone as well, so the agent also approved my access request then and there too.
- Login to the Broadcom Support Site: https://support.broadcom.com
- Click on the “Clouds” top right, and click “VMware Cloud Foundation”
- Then click on your name in the top right. Click “Request Access”.
- On the “Support Site ID” tab, click “Request Access”, and enter the following:
- Site ID: < found in step 3>
- Additional Information: I require access to our support and product entitlement.
- Click Save, wait for it to be approved.
You may also want to request access as “User Administrator” and “Product Administrator”.
It can take up to 3 days to be registered, once you are it will say “Approved” and then you can see the entitlements.
Step 5 – Support Portal Access
The registration for support portal access apparently happens shortly after your first entitlement access, it can take from 30 mins to 24 hours to activate this.
Hopefully that’s some help to you!
Just a quick heads up. BC claim the product is free for home use. This is not true. They make you have information (Site ID) for your account on the BC web site that non-buisiness users cannot obtain. As a home user I will not have Conatract information etc.
