I.e. you print to a holding queue, the job stays there until you swipe your card, at this point the swipe box tells PCounter which terminal ID you are using and PCounter just picks the job up and dumps it into the matching queue for the printer, and the printer then prints out the job as normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this example we have an MFD printer device called <strong>\u201cManagement Information Services MFD (SMF)\u201d<\/strong>, this is the queue for the MFD printer, you set this up like a normal printer using the \u201cPCounter Port\u201d instead of normal \u201cTCP\/IP Port\u201d and input the IP address of the device and select the appropriate driver. You\u2019ll find if you print direct to this queue (i.e. bypassing the card swipe boxes) all is well and the job will print as normal.<br><br>Next part is the two PCounter holding queues, these are named <strong>\u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF)\u201d <\/strong>and <strong>\u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF) Output\u201d<\/strong>, the first queue <strong>\u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF)\u201d<\/strong> is configured as a PCounter port but set with a protocol as: \u201c<strong>OtherPrinter<\/strong>\u201d with an \u201c<strong>Output Printer Name:<\/strong>\u201d of <strong>\u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF) Output.\u201d <\/strong>The second queue, \u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF) Output\u201d needs to be set to use the port <strong>\u201cLPT1:\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geekmungus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/image-19.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-277\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now here is the crux of it, if you do not configure the<strong> \u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF)\u201d <\/strong>i.e. the<strong> \u201cpull queue\u201d <\/strong>with the correct settings in PCounter you\u2019ll get the error: <strong>ERROR: DATA AREA PASSED TO A SYSTEM CALL IS TOO SMALL ERROR MESSAGE<\/strong><br><br>To fix this you must open the \u201cPControl\u201d tool, then browse to the name of the <strong>\u201cpull queue\u201d<\/strong> i.e. <strong>\u201cManagement Information Services Print Queue (SMF)\u201d<\/strong> from here you then need to right click and select \u201cPCounter->Configuration\u201d then ensure that the settings are filled out on the \u201cSettings\u201d, \u201cPrices\u201d and \u201cRules\u201d tabs shown:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geekmungus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/image-20.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-278\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geekmungus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/image-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-279\" width=\"567\" height=\"365\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geekmungus.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/image-22.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-280\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So basically you add the prices to the \u201cPrices\u201d tab, on the \u201cSettings\u201d tab, (set \u201cPause all Jobs\u201d to \u201cSuper Pause\u201d, not mandatory) and most importantly under the \u201cRules\u201d tab, you need to enable and configure the rules to: \u201cIf page count is greater than 1 pages, pause job\u201d and \u201cif page count is less than 10000 pages, pause job\u201d, once this has been done, click OK to close the window.<br><br>Now you should be able to print to this \u201cpull queue\u201d without it corrupting the job and generating the error message: <strong>ERROR: DATA AREA PASSED TO A SYSTEM CALL IS TOO SMALL ERROR MESSAGE<\/strong> in the print queue when you\u2019ve printed a job.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When using PCounter you have a separate queue that will take the job from the client; this is then passed to the queue that relates to the printer identified by the swipe card box the user swiped their card through.
