In Windows 2003 or XP just installing the VMWare Tools and setting the Troubleshooting \u201cHardware Acceleration\u201d to \u201cFull\u201d fixes the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However in Windows 2008 Server R2 the driver picked up doesn\u2019t seem to be the correct one for the display adapter. To fix this do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After installing VMWare Tools and then rebooting, open \u201cDevice Manager, find the display adapter, should be called \u201cDefault VGA Adapter\u201d (or something), select \u201cUpgrade Driver Software\u201d. Then select to install the driver from this location: C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\VMware\\Drivers\\wddm_video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the driver is installed, then reboot the server.
